It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the death on Christmas Eve 2007 of Mr. Thomas (Tom) Barbour. Tom had felt unwell on Sunday 23 December and had called an ambulance. He was taken into James Cooke University Hospital in the early hours of Christmas Eve and put him on a Life Support Machine. However, when it became apparent that this was not having the desired effect it was decided at 4.00 pm to switch off the machine and allow Tom to pass peacefully away.
Tom had only recently discovered the SVOPA (although he was in touch with other past pupils), but he very quickly established himself as a firm favourite with those he met,
